As you get older, you realize truly how important it is to maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle, to ensure that you can both look and feel your best each day.

With so many different exercise plans, diet fads, and health and wellness tips on the internet, it can be easy to get caught up in a lifestyle that may look healthy on paper but does not allow you to live a whole and fulfilled life.

When people think of “being healthy,” they often immediately assume constant exercise, a strict diet with little to no carbs, and consistency of losing weight. While this is definitely a part of your overall health, it is not the most important.

Being healthy requires you to have a balanced lifestyle where you can be confident in knowing that you feel good and also are content and at peace with your mental health and the life you are living. Remember, you only get one life to live, so you better make it count!

Here are some tips on how you can maintain a balanced lifestyle, staying healthy but also having fun and feeling accomplished:

How You Can Sustain a Balanced Lifestyle

1 – Wake up earlier than you have to.

Waking up can be difficult, especially if you are experiencing a busy week with work, school, or life in general.

To create a balanced lifestyle, work on setting your alarm 30-45 minutes earlier than you actually need to get up, to allow yourself to have some relaxation time before you must start your daily routine. This will allow you to have some “me time,” whatever that means to you!

Whether you sit back on your couch with your favorite cup of coffee, read a few chapters of a book, or go for a walk, this will help you to ease into your day.

2 – Eat healthy during the week.

If you are someone who is trying to maintain or lose weight, try to eat as healthy as possible during the work week, and allow yourself to indulge on the weekends. Remember – it is all about a balanced lifestyle!

If you are having trouble staying on track during the week, try meal prepping so that you can easily grab your meals and go, no matter where you are off to. This will also give you some more free time during the week, as you will not have to think about what to cook for each meal of the day! While it is more work upfront, it will save you time in the long run.

3 – Take your vitamins and supplements.

Remember to take your vitamins and supplements every day, as they can have a huge impact on your health. If you are not sure which vitamins and supplements are right for you, speak with your doctor so you can get a feel for what your body is lacking, or what you could take to improve your health and how you feel each day.

4 – Drink as much water as you can.

You have heard it before – hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Drinking water is so important, and yet so often forgotten about if you are experiencing a busy day. Try purchasing a large water bottle that you know you will only need to drink 1-2 of during the day, which will help you to track exactly how much water you are drinking, or whether you are slacking on the hydration! This is incredibly important to live a balanced lifestyle.

5 – Stay active.

To live a balanced lifestyle, it’s important to stay active each day, whatever this means to you. Perhaps you are someone who loves to spend a good amount of time in the gym each day, or maybe you prefer long walks! It does not matter how you move your body it just matters that you make the effort to do so! Staying active is not only good for your physical health, but your mental wellbeing as well.
