If you don’t have one already, consider installing a patio or deck area for entertaining. The ideal location for this would be directly off the kitchen or near an easily accessible entrance to the house. This is also the perfect place to set up an outdoor dining table and chairs. You might want to keep your grille in this area or even install an outdoor kitchen. Not only will you free yourself from having to be stuck in a hot kitchen, but now everything is close by to serve family meals and host summer barbeques.
And my guess is that most peoples favorite thing about camping is sitting around the fire at night. So why not recreate this childhood memory to enjoy whenever you want? (Weather permitting of course!) There are some great DYI options available for building a backyard fire pit. Or if you want to replicate a cozy living room setting, hire professionals to install an outdoor fireplace with chimney. Either way, this allows you to continue enjoying your yard even after the sun goes down. From Spring through Fall, you can enjoy roasting marshmallows with the kids or relaxing with a glass of wine and some friends.
There are some simple additions you can accomplish in a weekend as well. Pick up a free-standing hammock that you can move from one place to another. Or hang a chair or swing from a sturdy tree branch. Visit your local home improvement store for all the tools and supplies you need to start your very own flower or vegetable garden. Decide what works best for your property and your budget but welcome spring into your yard with open arms.
